Hello, I have a question regarding oxidation. For example I am making a body sugar scrub cream based which contains water. I add preservative. But after few weeks I notice rancid oil smell. I don’t add tacopherols because they are only for anhydrous products. What can I do about it? Or am I doing something incorrectly?
Hey, unfortunately, there is no one size fits all answer to this. I would need to see the formula to advise accurately, however it sounds like the formula is not stable. A few tips. make sure the preservative you are using is broad spectrum and compatible with the rest of the formulation. You can still add an antioxidant to an emulsified product, it just depends what is in the entire formulation. Thanks Kennece
